BA VINTAGE COUNTRY FAIR 2014At BA Store, Broomhill Farm Lyne of Skene, Dunecht AB32 7DA
There was a complete range of entertainment for all the family
One of the featured attractions, was a major line up of vintage tractors, many of them took part in ploughing demonstrations and in the road run on Sunday. The tractor run took the participants out of the show ground, along the country roads for several miles returning back through Lyne of Skene.
Entertainment included the Scottish Tractor Pulling Club’s sledge demonstrations. Powerfull tractors pulled the sledge at great speed up there newly upgraded track. Large Modern Fendt Tractors supplied by Ross Agri Services pulled the sledge back to start position and repaired the track.
Two magnificent steam engines from a bygone age pulled their plough up and down the field. The two self-moving engines was placed at opposite ends of the field and each using a winch to draw the plough backwards and forwards between them.
Displays of fascinating stationary engines, commercial and vintage vehicles.
Highly polished trucks and vans drew in great crowds.
There was a photographic collection by the Skene Heritage Society, giving an insight into the history of the local farming community.
Family entertainment included a Military Encampment, remote controlled boats on the pond, panning for gold, sheepdog demonstrations and The Dog & Duck Show. Craft and Trade stands, music and refreshments completed the range of entertainment for all the family.
A big attraction was the trailer rides two large McCormick tractors supplied by Brian Smith Engineers, pulled seated trailers fully laden with passengers around the BA Vintage Country Fair site.
Kintore Pipe Band gave us the sound of pipes and drums. Kintore Pipe Band currently comprises of about 25 pipers and 10 drummers with members of all ages coming from all walks of life. The band's home town is the Royal Burgh of Kintore which is situated in Aberdeenshire.
